Nice Premium proposed a set of questions to the candidates for the legislative elections with the aim of allowing its readers to better know, appreciate, and thus help them in their choice.
Nice Premium: If you had to introduce yourself, what would you say?
Lydia Schenardi: I am a person of the people; I am well aware of the difficulties everyone can encounter daily. Having the chance to have time, I decided to serve all those who suffer in silence and to engage politically.
NP: What is the reason for your political commitment?
LS: My political commitment dates back to 1981; I wanted to defend the values that were instilled in me and that I believed in.
NP: Are you already elected or have you been a candidate in legislative elections?
LS: I am a regional councilor of PACA; I have already been a deputy in the European Parliament, and I have been a candidate in several legislative and cantonal elections.
NP: What are the strengths of your positioning towards the Azurian electorate?
LS: I am thoroughly familiar with the issues affecting our department due to my experience as an elected official.
NP: Why are you a candidate in this constituency?
LS: Being responsible for the entire Alpes-Maritimes department and therefore knowing this department very well, I could have been a candidate in any constituency, whether the 4th or the 9th where I reside.
NP: How would you define your constituency?
LS: This 4th constituency is a small part of France and suffers from the same ills.
NP: What do you think are the first urgencies and the first projects to be implemented?
LS: What can be done at the national levelโtaxation, budgets allocated to health or national education, justice, or securityโwill have repercussions in our department, but one should not be led to believe that a deputy can obtain any specific thing for their own department, that’s false. The directives are essentially national.
NP: Do you think the Presidential election will influence the electoral choice?
LS: The presidential election can indeed influence the electoral choice.
NP: What is your prediction for the result of the first round?
LS: It is hoped that the ‘National Front’ electorate will rally behind the candidates we present and won’t be swayed by enticing proposals from others, which will not be kept.
NP: Do you imagine a scenario for the second round?
LS: I hope to be present in the second round.
NP: How is your campaign going and what are your next deadlines?
LS: I have a good, very motivated team, and we work a lot on the ground.
NP: What will you do on June 10th?
LS: On June 10th, I will be traveling through my constituency.
