3rd Inter-District Respect Futsal Challenge of Nice Côte d’Azur

Latest News

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Stade des Arboras, in the presence of Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, Deputy Mayor for Housing, Social Cohesion, and the Fight against Discrimination, and for the third consecutive year, the Respect Futsal Challenge between neighborhoods will bring together nearly 200 young people from six neighborhoods in Nice and the municipalities of Nice Côte d’Azur, Carros, La Trinité, Saint-André, and Vence.

Twenty-four mixed teams of 8 young people aged 16 to 18 (5 players and 3 substitutes) have been formed and will compete in matches lasting approximately 12 minutes.

Participants must adhere to the rules established for this competition, which is centered around the theme of respect, including a mandatory handshake with the opposing team before and after the matches! Professional referees provided by the AEFCA (Amicale des Educateurs de Football de la Côte d’Azur) will particularly ensure this rule is followed.

The winning team will be the one that demonstrates the most “fair play” on and off the field (respect for the environment, respect for supervisors, general attitude…). The first prize is a trip to Paris with the Côte d’Azur Football District to attend a sports event.

This sports day has been organized by numerous partners as part of the Urban Social Cohesion Contract for Nice Côte d’Azur: the urban policy service of Nice Côte d’Azur, the municipal sports animation service of the city of Nice, the CCAS of Nice through the Village, the CCAS of Saint-André, Vence’s Youth and Leisure Center, as well as many associations: La Semeuse, ADAM, ADSEA, Agora, Paje, Activities for All, JMF, ACJN, CLAJ, Pari mix’cité, Trinité Football Club, Entente St Sylvestre Nice Nord, ADS).

*Futsal is a form of soccer played on a small space (such as a handball court). Two teams of five players compete during two twenty-minute periods.
