Created in 1961 by His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III of Monaco to promote television productions, this event annually rewards the best programs and creators of television from around the world. At the end of the competition, the winners are awarded a Golden Nymph during the closing ceremony (this year, the fiction jury is chaired by producer-director Pat O’Connor).
The 47th Monte-Carlo Television Festival, under the Honorary Presidency of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, has revealed the names of the U.S. series nominated in the “drama” and “comedy” categories. These programs, selected by the Producer’s Guild of America (PGA), will compete against productions from around the world.
The nominated American series are, in the drama category, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, and 24, and in the comedy category, Curb Your Enthusiasm, My Name Is Earl, and Weeds.
The winners for each category will be announced during the prestigious Golden Nymph Awards ceremony, which will take place on the evening of June 14th. An international jury composed of professionals representing the various creative sectors of television (writers, producers, actors, etc.) will designate the winners.
Four Golden Nymphs will be awarded in each category for “Best Producer”, “Best European Producer”, “Best Actor”, and “Best Actress”.
During a press conference, Mr. Tomatis, Vice President Delegate of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, stated: “The Festival aims to promote and reward exceptional contributions in the fields of news and entertainment production worldwide.”
