This exhibition, held at the Palais Acropolis on June 24 and 25, featuring no less than 90 exhibitors, expects to welcome nearly 3,000 visitors from all corners of the world. It is one of the must-attend events for anyone who contributes to and envisions the city of tomorrow. It focuses on Smart City and its components, including the technical, environmental, logistical, and also human challenges related to it.
The “Smart City” or intelligent city has not been a mere concept for several years, as evidenced by its numerous daily illustrations around the world.
This new international exhibition, “Innovative City,” provided an opportunity to sign a convention between the Government of the Principality of Monaco and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, signed by Christian Estrosi and Michel Roger, Minister of State of Monaco, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The purpose of this convention is to enhance cooperation and exchanges between the two activity hubs. A public-private partnership primarily focused on energy management and data management (big data).
“The city of tomorrow is experienced daily”
Christian Estrosi highlighted the importance of making the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis a hub of technological advancements and mobilizing, involving the country in the dynamic of the city, for and by the citizens. Among the reasons mentioned, he noted the creation of 25,000 jobs in the country by 2020.
Innovative City will allow many business leaders, as well as political leaders and politicians from around the world, like the mayors of Gdansk, San Diego, and Libreville, to exchange and share their knowledge. This exhibition, featuring around forty conferences, will be an occasion to establish new professional contacts with the aim of signing contracts and partnerships.
These agreements aim to improve the lives of citizens through technological and digital advancements in various areas such as health, well-being and leisure, tourism and transportation, consumption, as well as culture and education.
Nice, 4th Smart City in the world according to Juniper Research
According to Juniper Research, an American research firm specializing in new technologies, Nice is ranked 4th in the top 5 smart cities, behind Barcelona, New York, and London, and ahead of Singapore. The result of an active support policy to promote the development of these concepts, which draws the attention of many investors.
The “Spot Mairie,” for example, has been tested, a booth that allows for remote administrative procedures, as well as “anti-pollen” wave “radiators” that have also been installed on the roof of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Another project, the “Connected Boulevard,” aimed to optimize the management of movement, lighting, cleanliness, and air quality in an entire neighborhood through numerous connected sensors. Having not fully met expectations, it has made way for another project.
Smart City projects also include these 150,000 “intelligent” electricity and water sensors that will be installed in the Nice region, allowing residents to monitor their consumption in real time, and, thanks to the collected data, offer more suitable packages or advice to optimize their use of these resources.
The ambition is also to serve as a model and pioneer for the members of COP 21, who will meet in a few months in Paris, as well as for other territories.
