The Nice Ceremony for the 69th anniversary of the creation of the National Council of the Resistance in Paris on May 27, 1943, will take place in the presence of the National Association of Former Combatants and Friends of the Resistance of the Alpes-Maritimes, the Azurean Association of Friends at the National Museum of Resistance, and Franรงois Rabut, delegate to the Former Combatants.

This ceremony will take place at the Garden of Villa Thiole in Nice on Tuesday, May 29 at 6 PM and will be followed by a laying of wreaths.

On May 27, 1943, in Paris, Jean Moulin (President of the United Movements of the Resistance and Delegate in France of General de Gaulle) gathered about fifteen representatives of the internal Resistance movements, parties, and unions to form the National Council of the Resistance. This was intended to support General de Gaulle against General Giraud, the main interlocutor of the Allies in North Africa, and to make proposals for the post-liberation period regarding institutional, economic, social, and media plans while preparing for the national insurrection.

The associations stemming from the internal Resistance have, for several years, been advocating for May 27, 1943, to be considered, like June 18, 1940, as one of the emblematic dates of the French Resistance and for it to be recognized in the official commemorative calendar.
