The 6th edition of the short film festival “Un Festival c’est trop court” organized by the Hรฉliotrope association will take place from April 11 to 16 in four different venues in Nice: Le Rialto cinema, the Theatre of Photography and Image, the Lino Ventura Theatre, and Acropolis.
21 films will compete, and seven prizes will be awarded by a jury composed of professionals, students, and journalists. The Hรฉliotrope association received over 500 submissions. “We had to make selections. There were four of us making the decisions. We each watched the films separately and then shared our views. Some films received unanimous approval like ‘La leรงon de guitare’ or ‘Du soleil en hiver’. For others, the selection was more debated,” explains Laurent Trรฉmeau, the festival delegate, asserting that personal and arbitrary choices were made. “We have an eclectic lineup with all four genres (fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental) represented. Last year, we limited the films to 30 minutes; in 2006, the longest film is 45 minutes,” specifies Laurent Trรฉmeau.
Alongside the competition, two cinema-concerts will be held on Friday, April 14 at 14:00 at Acropolis and at 21:00 at the Lino Ventura Theatre, featuring screenings of numerous short films not in competition.
“Un Festival c’est trop court” is also an opportunity to meet and converse with directors who use this week to discuss with producers or institutional partners that could help them develop more costly projects.
The 6th edition of “Un Festival c’est trop court” will satisfy all cinema lovers. The program is varied and unique. We eagerly await the festival’s first clap!
