Last Saturday, the Palais des Festivals bore a strong resemblance to what we usually see during the Cannes Film Festival days, with one exception: there were no chairs chained to the barricades. But spectators from all corners of France were indeed there, faithful and warm, at times cheering for Diam’s, at times booing Cyril or M. Pokora as they ascended the stairs, those famous steps of the Cannes Festival Palace known worldwide!
“Ah! How I would love to walk them!” dreams a spectator. Playing the stars, dressed in sequins, and making the camera flashes pop, some have done it. Yes, Saturday night, the red carpet invited at the same time, the biggest international and French stars and the audience to tread upon it. A scene immortalized by a photograph, of course!
Bernard Montiel, always as friendly, greets the photographers.
Christina Aguilera, Ingrid Chauvin, and Gwen Stefani, who made her first European television appearance with her unreleased song “Wind it Up” seduced the flashes while Victoria Silvstedt, Christophe Dechavanne’s sidekick on La Roue de La Fortune, shattered the lenses.
Sandrine Quétier and Nikos, the new dynamic duo of TF1 presenting the celebrity magazine “50Mn Inside”… how classy!
Pascal Mono, discreet, does not play the star!
The angelic Najoua Belyzel adds a touch of poetry to this ascent with the release of two doves.
The oriental scent of Faudel, the little prince of raï grown up, accompanied by Jean-Claude Camus is acclaimed.
The athletes, Michalak, Gentil, Lizarazu, and Virenque are also part of the celebration.
Not far behind, Clara Morgane came to present her single, as Jenifer and Calogero who will soon release their next albums. Exclusively, the singer of “Face à la mer” introduced us to his new song “Le saut de l’ange.”
Let’s not forget our favorite comedians, Elie Semoun and Franck Dubosc, who came to place a small ad. Gad Elmaleh was cheered for his singing talent while Michael Youn incited the public to “put on their balaclava.”
But let’s get back to serious matters! Because this evening is primarily designed to reward the best. And the best of the NRJ Music Awards 2007 is rapper Diam’s who dominated the Francophone awards: Francophone Female Artist of the Year, Francophone Album of the Year, and Francophone Song of the Year with “La Boulette”. A reward she shares with her audience and her “Mom” who she “adores”.
“It works” for Christophe Mae who snagged the trophy for Francophone Breakthrough of the Year, and the troupe “Le Roi Soleil” in which he performs, won for Francophone Group/Duo/Troupe of the Year.
Christina Aguilera, who performed a piece specifically designed for the NRJ Music Awards 2007, won two awards: International Female Artist and International Album of the Year.
For the first time, DJs made the Palace dance and it is Bob Sinclar who is named DJ of the Year, a reward shared with David Guetta, David Vendetta, Laurent Wolf, and Martin Solveig.
M. Pokora, not to be outdone, was named: Francophone Male Artist of the Year and for the Clip of the Year: “De retour”.
On the international side, there is:
Justin Timberlake: International Male Artist of the Year,
Nelly Furtado: International Breakthrough of the Year
Evanescence: International Group/Duo/Troupe of the Year
“Unfaithful” by Rihanna: International Song of the Year
