Yesterday in Nice, more than 500 people demonstrated in the streets of the azure capital to protest against the amendment of the teacher-researcher status and the reform of teacher training.
Students and teachers were hand in hand from the start at Place Massรฉna to the Valrose science campus where the demonstration was somewhat agitated between the students and law enforcement.
This demonstration takes place in the context of a general strike that has paralyzed all the faculties in Nice for a week. Initially, only withholding grades was on the agenda, but the idea of going on strike quickly emerged. The faculty of letters is the hardest hit to date, where nearly 80% of the classes have not been held since last Tuesday. Some teachers even mention their own resignation if the reform isn’t withdrawn.
Other actions could be decided during an inter-campus general assembly scheduled for Friday, February 6th at 12 p.m. at the Valrose campus.
