Christian Estrosi recalled his two marathons in New York as well as three triathlons in Nice. He who sows the wind shall reap the whirlwind. The organization registered him for the 10 km race, a parallel event to the half marathon. It was mentioned in passing just like the official announcement of the participation of the Mayor of Nice in the Côte d’Azur Nice to Cannes Marathon on November 9.
Pascal Thiriot emphasized the existing enthusiasm around the event: “We are in the top 5 of running races. Performance is our creed both in terms of sports and organization.” Alongside the half-marathon, the main event on April 20, other competitions will take place: the 2 km Running Challenge for colleges, the 3 km Everyone Runs Against Breast Cancer sponsored by Miss France 2007, and the 10 km race. A village will be set up starting Friday at 2:30 PM. At the Negresco Hotel, a conference dedicated to “Sports and the Brain” will be held on Saturday, April 19.
All male athletes finishing the half marathon in less than 1h10 will receive €100. The same reward will be given to women crossing the finish line in less than 1h30. The 21.1 km race promises to be challenging. Two Kenyan runners have already run it in less than 1 hour. The event is a qualifier for the French championships. A good incentive to always go faster…
