Friendship cannot be decreed. It is built. Patiently. By testing day by day the intentions of each party. The very young Association “Judeo-Muslim Friendship of the Alpes-Maritimes” thus takes its time but spares no effort to realize its ambitions: “to strengthen the bonds of friendship, respect between Jews and Muslims to better live together in the French Republic.” Founded in January 2007 by Dr. Marouane Bouloudhnine and Alain Lรฉvy, the AJM 06 operates under the moral authority of a triumvirate composed of the Paris Consistory, the CRIF of Ile de France, and the Grand Mosque of Paris by Rector Dalil Boubakeur. This Sunday, it organized a festive gathering on the heights of Nice around a “Sunday couscous” to present its future actions to members as well as to elected officials of the Republic. Rudy Salles, Patrick Allemand, Eric Ciotti, Muriel Marland Militello, Auguste Vรฉrola, all campaigning officials whom the President of the Association courteously thanked, pretending to believe that this event disrupted the schedule of their electoral activities.
From the month of June, the AJM 06 will offer a program of events that will begin on the 28th with the arrival of the Judeo-Muslim Friendship Bus, whose final stage will take place in the Moulins district. The next day, Dominique Estrosi, deputy mayor of Nice for urban policy, will organize a visit to the Ariane, preceded that same morning by the laying of a wreath at the Cannes war memorial by three children of different faiths. Finally, on July 1st, “Fraternity Day”, a football tournament for Young “all brothers” around a picnic in the countryside will take place at the Vaugrenier Park.
In his welcome speech to the elected officials present, Marouane Bouloudhnine emphasized the urgent need to invite “this majority of well-integrated Muslims to break their silence” in order to “combat the ignorance that drives people apart.” Next step: to ensure the creation of a “national day of fraternity and citizenship”. A project for which the president of the AJM 06 expressed satisfaction at having received the official support of the Elysรฉe.
