David Krakauer is today one of the most iconic and talented figures of the distinctly New York movement of new Klezmer music, engaged in revitalizing an ancient tradition that is naturally open to the most diverse and varied influences and the most radical accents of contemporary jazz. Socalled creates innovative music with his “Yiddish hip-hop,” as he calls it. A mix of breakbeats and Jewish music updated by the artist, blending his two cultures.
