A primary school class in Tourettes-sur-Loup was closed for a week following the occurrence of a probable clustered case of influenza A/H1N1. On September 23, 2009, 3 students from the preparatory class/first year of elementary school in Tourettes-sur-Loup exhibited flu-like symptoms clinically suggestive of the new influenza A/H1N1 virus.
In accordance with government instructions, to reduce the risk of the virus spreading in the primary school and after consultation with academic authorities, health authorities, and the concerned municipality, the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes decided to suspend the activities of the children in this class for 7 days, from Thursday, September 24 at 8:00 AM until Thursday, October 1 at 8:00 AM.
This is not the first class to be closed in the department. A week ago, it was a high school that had to close its doors for a week. The Pierre and Marie Curie High School in Menton, which has since been able to reopen.
