“Le Carton,” a play that moves!

“The association ‘La scรจne dรฉmรฉnage’ was created in 2003 by several young people (students and workers) who were taking theater classes together at the faculty of arts and who, after some time, wanted to spread their wings.”

That’s the little story!

The protagonists? There are ten of them: Nicolas, Laurent, Aymeric, Vincent, Christophe, and Florian on the boysโ€™ side, and Eve, Deborah, and Virginie on the girlsโ€™ side.

To present their new “Carton” to you, we contacted the president of the association, Virginie Descorte, alias Vivi, who is not only active on the airwaves of Radio Trafic FM but also on stage.

N-P: Can you introduce the new play you’re performing?

Virginie Descorte: Itโ€™s a play by Clรฉment MICHEL who had a lot of fun humorously torturing his main character over a moving. Indeed, Antoine will only have a few hours to tidy his apartment and prepare for the inspection, but the boxes aren’t ready, the van hasn’t arrivedโ€ฆ In short, it’s a panic. Antoine would have preferred to stay under the duvet that morning, but his landlord is in a hurry to get the keys back. To help him, he calls his friends but quickly realizes that the most burdensome thing in this move is not the boxes but indeed these friends he already regrets asking for help. ‘La Scรจne Dรฉmรฉnage’ couldn’t resist the temptation to offer you this modern and lively vaudeville, halfway between a Feydeau play and a (crazy) episode of Friends?

N-P: So we won’t risk crying?

V.D.: Crying with laughter, yes, I hope!!

N-P: What role do you play?

V.D.: I play Emilie Rodier, the landlord’s daughter who comes to do the inspection and won’t simplify Antoine’s move. Emilie is a little snob that I have a lot of fun with.

N-P: Last Saturday was your first performance. How did it go?

V.D.: Actually, we’ve already performed the play this summer in Nice and Beuil and received very positive feedback. Last Saturday, some actors were replaced, so indeed we can say it was a first. It went well, but we hope to have even more people the next Saturdays.

N-P: After ‘Le Pรจre Noel est une ordure’, ‘Arrรชte, tu mโ€™รฉnerves !!’, why did you choose to stage ‘Le carton’?

V.D.: Simply because we collectively fell in love with this play which remains in the comedy genre, with endearing characters that you can easily relate to since it’s about a group of friends. Anyone who has ever moved will certainly see themselves a bit. As for the set, you will be pleasantly surprised because we have prepared a real little bachelor apartment. Fortunately, there are handymen in the troupe!

N-P: So Madam President, is it moving?

V.D.: Yes, it’s moving at Nice ‘Hรดtel Le Scribe’ every Saturday in October, and it will move again in November: the 24th at the Amateur Theater Festival in Mandelieu (Salle Lรฉonard de Vinci) and on the 25th in Cannes la Bocca. This winter, we’ll be heading to Beausoleil and the Val d’Allos (more info at 3w.la-scene-demenage.com or by calling 06.70.70.40.36). You’ve noticed, we love moving!!!
