Mika, a wave of good humor at the Nikaïa.

Latest News

Mika has been traveling across France for a few months. He carries with him kilos of positive energy. On Monday night, he stops at Nikaïa, where he welcomes his fans into a magical universe. For the duration of his concert, the venue transforms into a wild fair for big kids missing colors. Red flowers are attached to microphones, golden angels appear out of nowhere, and confetti and balloons are everywhere. The audience is charmed by the magic, finding themselves laughing at a theater of shadow puppets and plush animals. Naive, candid, a bit too candy pink? It doesn’t matter to the fans. They came here to dance to the melody of Happy Ending. To join in the choruses: Big girls you are beautiful, everybody gonna love today.

Mika, a pill of happiness

Memories resurface, and Mika opens up. In the middle of the show, he tells the story of a miserably failed singing concert in Juan-les-Pins during his annual vacation on the Côte d’Azur. He was 9 years old. “Coming back to Nice energizes me!” he says. It’s easy to believe. Mika is constantly on the move. He can’t help but get up to play the piano standing. Even to the only sad melody in his repertoire, he continues to hop, extending the microphone to the audience. Mika gets animated, gives a whirl. But his vocal performance remains impeccable. Astonishing. Followed by a flawless musical accompaniment, assured by two guitarists, a singer, and a black female drummer with the air of a gospel diva. Departing from the tracks endlessly replayed on the airwaves, Mika offers some of his lesser-known compositions. Less pop, more rock, almost country. The audience is surprised but enthusiastic.

The people from the Côte d’Azur are among friends or family. Mika is a shared pleasure, collective, contagious. Morgane, 7 years old, came with her mom, her brother, and her 20-year-old big sister. Mika’s catchy melodies captivate and attract all generations. Jeanne, 54 years old, for her part, has taken her pill of happiness and wonders why “this show isn’t covered by social security.”

Mika remembered his failed concert in Juan-les-Pins, while the audience won’t soon forget this dream-like concert!
