Nice: Patrick Mottard, a Politician Apart

Latest News

jpg_mottard-webtv.jpg After garnering nearly 7% of the votes in the last municipal elections, Patrick Mottard remains active in Nice’s political life. Elected General Councilor of Nice’s 5th district since 1998, he continues to advocate with his movement โ€œLeft Differentlyโ€. A movement comprised of around a hundred members that โ€œpromotes the values of civic politicsโ€. Pleased that Christian Estrosi has adopted some of his proposals like the PACS or civil ceremonies at the town hall, Patrick Mottard is delighted with โ€œwhat is happening at the municipality of Niceโ€.

After spending a little more than 30 years within the Socialist Party, the general councilor is now going solo with his โ€œactive membersโ€. Today, he wants to fully devote himself to his fellow citizens. A professor of public law at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, he is also an admirer of Barack Obama and attended the Denver Convention for the Democratic candidateโ€™s convention.

For this political return, Patrick Mottard reflects on his unique approach to politics and intends to continue down this path.
