This year, one third of the seats in the “Upper House” will be renewed. To account for the population increase, 12 seats have been created, including one in the Alpes Maritimes.
The elections will be held by indirect universal suffrage, meaning that the voters will be the deputies, regional councilors, general councilors, and delegates from municipal councils.
On Sunday, therefore, 5 seats will be up for grabs for six years, not nine, following the reduction of the senatorial term in 2003.
