Football has heart on the Côte d’Azur.

At the heart of this initiative was a major football tournament bringing together dozens of young budding football players who braved the cold and rain to participate in this great celebration of heart and soccer. Local clubs like Gazelec, OGC Nice, and Cavigal were all present, just like Santa Claus who, in an unusual twist, arrived with empty sacks that were cheerfully filled by children delighted to transform, if only for a moment, into “Christmas children.”

“We worked hard to organize all of this, and it warms the heart to see the number of toys and especially the amount of food that will fill some stomachs that are a bit too empty during this festive season. It’s a shame that some parents and leaders didn’t play along, as the collection could have been much more significant, but no matter, we’ll do better next year.” Happy and proud of the work accomplished, the cheerful group of leaders from La Trinité, assisted by the District Côte d’Azur Football, is already preparing the 2007 edition of an event that will remain in the memories of the young Azurian footballers.

Luca, just 6 years old, offers a perfect analysis of the day, and it is his touching words that will conclude our article: “It was a great day, and on top of that, we’re going to help children who need it. We lost our matches, but that’s okay because we will be with our family at Christmas, whereas they might not have that chance.”
