Garibaldi Square is getting its finishing touches.

Latest News

The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, announced it during the illumination of Place Garibaldi over a month ago: “Place Garibaldi will still undergo many changes.”
Today, after numerous public meetings, they have been unveiled.

From Monday, October 6th to December 15th, 2008, one of the only true squares in Nice will experience its final transformation. On the agenda: widening of the traffic axis allowing passage through Place Garibaldi, harmonization of the pavement, protected crossings, and the installation of lights that will delineate the new Cassini/Ciaudo axis.

To meet the requests of residents, the initial project is enhanced by the installation of seating at the base of the oak trees and an automatic watering system. The aim was to control the visual impact for such a sensitive site, given its inclusion in the protected sector of the old town.

The city of Nice will take charge of the greening of the bases of the oak trees, appropriate watering, the addition of supplementary lighting in these areas, and the anti-skateboarding device.

As for Bonaparte Street, it will remain without access to Cassini Street.
