It is in this context that the 9th Road Safety Week takes place from October 13 to 17, 2008. Its main theme will be children, young people, and road safety. The State and its partners will focus their efforts on young people through school principals, sports clubs, local missions, and on the department’s key issues: pedestrians and two-wheelers.
The conflicts regarding the use of traffic space often lead to accidents due to a lack of knowledge or denial of the differences between the characteristics of each mode of transportation and the behavior of users that contribute to increased incivility.
The theme chosen for the 2008 Road Safety Week will allow for the awareness of the general public as a whole and, particularly, users of motorized two-wheelers (motorcyclists and young moped riders).
Numerous events and activities are planned in the department as part of the action plan outlined by the prefecture to combat the scourge of road insecurity.

Monday, October 13, and Tuesday, October 14:
Road safety caravan (in partnership with the CCI)
Location: Nice Côte d’Azur Airport – Terminal I – Parking P2

October 13 at 10 am: Inauguration of the 2008 Road Safety Week by the Prefect in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Airports of the Côte d’Azur and the Deputy General Manager of the Airports of the Côte d’Azur
October 13 from 11 am to 5 pm and October 14 from 9 am to 5 pm

Thursday, October 16:
In the primary schools of La Gaude, implementation of pedestrian licenses: actions targeting parents and young children on sharing the road: pedestrians/bicycles/vehicle passengers and public transport by IDSR, the General Council, MAIF prevention, and the National Gendarmerie. Objective: raising awareness of 600 children.

In the primary schools of Nice, implementation of the Pedestrian License by the Municipal Police of Nice
“Road safety caravan” at CADAM
Location: Nice – departmental administrative center – in front of the Department Union Club

Friday, October 17:
“Road safety caravan” for presenting the preparation program for ASSR 1 and 2 level created by Mr. MOTO from the DDE 06 in collaboration with the road safety coordinator.
This program, unique in France, will help teachers in road education at school in accordance with ministerial directives. Additionally, implementation of a road safety program for the 3rd integration class on the theme “moped driving”, awareness on wearing helmets, driver and passenger equipment, and vehicle condition.

Saturday, October 18: Internal Security Day (further communication specific to this event will follow)
Road safety caravan: Crash test, alcohol software, alcohol goggles, auto-reflex test, ergo vision, “two-wheel driving simulator” with additional workshops this year (car driving simulator, inter-distance software).
