While the steering committee of Nice 2018 continues to shape the bid dossier that will be submitted to the CNOSF on January 21, the various sports teams from the French Riviera continue to work on the fields of France, proudly wearing the colors of Nice’s Olympic dream.
The players of OGC Nice paved the way by warming up before the match against Paris Saint Germain wearing t-shirts supporting Nice’s bid. Other clubs are quick to rally to the new Olympic movement from Nice, extending to Cannes with the support of the girls of RC Cannes.

The first team sport in the department to support Nice’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics, Nice Cavigal Olympic celebrated its “new” jersey with a victory last weekend over the Breton club Pleyber-Christ (69-63).
“I am convinced that this bid is an excellent idea, not just for the mountain world but also for sports in general in Nice and throughout the department,” affirms President Frรฉdรฉric Sciolla. “It is the best way to create a new dynamic around sports and therefore develop new infrastructures that will serve all sports. That’s why Nice Cavigal Olympic is backing Nice 2018.”
Nicoise rugby dreams of Olympic rings too
“We will wear the colors of Nice 2018 and we are going to work on other events for the return of Nice residents to Arboras against Carcassonne.” Julien Schramm, the Director of Nice Rugby Cรดte d’Azur and a member of the Nice 2018 steering committee, supports the effort of the Nice municipality, hoping to also secure the precious Olympic ticket for the city he has represented in the past wearing the jersey of the now-defunct RRC Nice.
The Nice Olympic project has succeeded, in a few weeks, in federating a large part of Nice’s sporting community after receiving approval from the PACA region and its President Michel Vauzelle. While participating is certainly important, the essential achievement in Nice has already been to positively unite around a common project. Phew!
