“The Bear”
A one-act play by Anton Chekhov
A grand Molière-esque farce representative of pure Russian theater and an irresistible comedy. A landowner, a former gruff and violent officer (Alain Demaret), comes to claim a debt from a young and pretty widow (Marie-José Bini) who has vowed never to remarry. After exchanging the most violent words and almost dueling, the two characters fall into each other’s arms, under the astonished eyes of the old bewildered servant (Jean-Jacques Driguez).

BAL MUSETTE
Jacques Buduca (accordion) and Alain Demaret (singing)
In the spirit of the places that popularized the bal musette (Balajo, Boule Rouge, Petit Balcon, Petit Jardin, Java, Renaissance, Chez Gégène, the Hermitage, Convert, riverside guinguettes of the Marne) the Comédia revisits a genre that made many generations dance …. Musette in a theater, you say? ….. note that in the 18th century, the musette was a theater dance with a slow and gentle tempo in 2 or 3 time.
