Solidarity football match in support of Action Against Hunger in Cannes

Latest News

In 2009, 1.02 billion people around the world are still suffering from hunger!

This Saturday, February 19, the association Sport’IAE is organizing a football match between the former Dragons of AS Cannes and the selection from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.
This match, taking place at the Maurice Chevalier stadium, is organized in aid of Action Against Hunger. It aims to raise awareness among students and collect funds for the association.

The former professional players of AS Cannes have answered the call from Action Against Hunger.
P. Raschke, W. Ayache, B. Bellone, and other former stars will face the selection from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, semi-finalists of the 2009-2010 French university championship. This match is an opportunity to relive youthful days and combine pleasure with nostalgia.

Entry to the match is free and the kick-off will be at 6:00 PM. Numerous activities will accompany the event, including a raffle whose proceeds will be entirely donated to Action Against Hunger. The match will be preceded by a youth tournament as a curtain-raiser.

This match aims to bridge the gap between the student world and the associative sector, with an Action Against Hunger stand present to promote the organization. It will provide an opportunity to learn about the association and its missions. ACF’s vocation is to act directly in the field and bear witness to the plight of populations.

THE ACTORS OF THIS PROJECT

The humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger was founded in 1979. It is part of the second generation of NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), the so-called “French Doctors,” who, in 1968, during the Biafra war, were outraged by the silence of humanitarians, bound by secrecy, yet witnesses to the worst horrors. Wanting to break this silence by denouncing injustice, these NGOs added testimony to action.

The causes of this scourge are multiple: natural disasters, conflicts, epidemics, or poverty.
ACF’s vocation is to act directly in the field and bear witness to the plight of populations.
