In celebration of International Women’s Rights Day, the UPE 06 organized a day on March 7 at IPAG on the theme “Women Have Talent, Every Profession Has a Female Version”. This was an opportunity to present new agreements to be signed in the coming months with the building, transport, and metallurgy sectors.

New Agreements to Be Signed Soon
These agreements pertain to the three sectors of construction, transport, and metallurgy. For Jean-Claude Martin, president of the FNTV 06 (National Federation of Passenger Transport), it is a successful partnership. “Out of all our training programs, 20% of women have received driver training,” he states. In the construction industry, Philippe Gautier, vice president of BTP 06, regrets that there are so few women on the sites. “We have women in administrative roles but very few on the construction sites. We really want them to show interest,” he confides. For Patrick Rentchler, vice president of UIMM Cรดte dโAzur (Union of Metallurgical Industries and Trades), this agreement facilitates the connection between volunteers and different companies. By the end of March, the first meeting on the feminization of professions for the building trades will take place.
“Since the introduction of this employment-training commission in 2005, no fewer than 42 women have benefited from it. And today, 33 are still thriving in the positions they applied for,” concludes Dominique Estrosi-Sassone.
