Reading of texts by Andrรฉ Verdet by Stรฉphane Mรฉlis, Saturday, April 2 at 11 am.
On the occasion of the publication in April 2011 of Andrรฉ Verdet’s book “Au-delร du seul ร seul,” (thoughts) unpublished texts, Stรฉphane Mรฉlis will read excerpts from this work to the public.
Andrรฉ Verdet, born in Nice in 1913 and passed away on December 19, 2004, wrote over 200 works, including poetry, essays, texts on art, tales, and even a novel. He was one of the last representatives of the great era when Giono, Prรฉvert, Cocteau, Picasso, Matisse… were alive, with whom he was a friend, confidant, and collaborator on many works. A poet, painter, sculptor, ceramist, art critic, music enthusiast, amateur astronomer, and science lover, Andrรฉ Verdet remained active well into his 90s and encouraged new artistic movements and young artists as he did previously for Arman, Yves Klein, Sosno, Ben, and many others.
The reading of the texts from this posthumous book should have a particularly emotional resonance in the library that bears his name.
