Exhibition at the Palais Lascaris of a collection of historical musical instruments

Latest News

Musical instruments, books, engravings, patents… from the collections of the famous instrument-making houses Gaveau, Pleyel, and Erard. These collections tell the story of the piano and harp from the late 18th century to the mid-20th century in France as well as in Europe.

The significance of this collection is considerable. The Erard collection notably includes the correspondence of this House and its maker. Among these letters, whose historical value is invaluable, are manuscripts from major composers in the history of music: Franz Liszt, Gabriel Faurรฉ, Charles Gounod, Jules Massenet, Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saรซns… Even though the Pleyel and Gaveau collections are more modest in size, they provide documentation of the highest interest.
