Since the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on March 11, Nice Côte d’Azur has mobilized, along with a range of partners, to support the victims: concerts, a pedestrian race, the sale of t-shirts by the association Nice Solidarité Japon, charity dinners… have been organized in recent weeks in solidarity with the Japanese people.
Since 1966, the city of Nice has maintained a special relationship with Japan, notably through its twinning with the city of Kamakura.
Through the “Solidarité Nice Japon” unit led by Tomoko Caissot ti-Ono and in partnership with Keisuke Matsushima, Honorary President of the Nice mobilization, the city has supported more than fifteen actions that have raised over 40,000 euros, thanks to the generosity of the people of Nice.
The Deputy Consul General of Japan made a point to personally congratulate the city of Nice and all partners for their support of the disaster victims.
