Established in 2010, the ECO-POL Prize aims to annually reward a political figure in the department who stands out for their good economic and political management.
The 1st edition of the ECO-POL Prize was awarded last year to Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, for the 61 million euro budget savings plan he implemented with his majority within the departmental council.
This year, the ECO-POL jury of Liberté Chérie (composed of economists, business leaders, intellectuals, and public service executives) has decided to honor Mr. Richard Galy for successfully implementing a number of ambitious projects in his municipality, without ever increasing local taxes.
Indeed, no tax increases have occurred since Richard Galy’s election in 2001, but there has been a significant investment policy: creation of the department’s first ecological school, participation in the creation of a Medical-Educational Institute, creation of a nursery and a new DOJO, each meeting “High Environmental Quality” standards, creation of a new football stadium, organization of international-scale tourist events, opening of the Eco’Parc, a recreational area dedicated to sustainable development, science, and culture…
Liberté Chérie is an independent non-profit association under the 1901 law, strongly involved in taxpayer defense, advocating throughout the year for reduced levies and a return to the fundamentals of a sovereign state.
