The El Camino Youth Symphony (ECYS) was founded in 1963 in California.
It is composed of 115 musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, under the direction of Camilla Kolchinsky, Music Director and Symphony Conductor.
She has conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stockholm, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Brussels Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Each year, the ECYS invites internationally renowned soloists to perform with the orchestra.
In 2011, this includes Naomi Kudo, a young 23-year-old pianist who is already emerging as a rising star in classical music.
The only American finalist in the 15th International Frรฉdรฉric Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Naomi Kudo also won the prestigious Gilmore Prize at the age of 16.
She began her professional career by performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Then, Falla’s music with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra that same year.
In 2009, Naomi Kudo won the Arthur Rubenstein Prize, marking the end of her studies at Juilliard, the famous American music conservatory.
