Fort Mont Alban is located in one of the highest protected natural areas on the Nice coastline and has been the subject of a restoration project since 2010 to preserve and maintain this building, a witness to the military architecture of the County of Nice.

This rich treasure of our heritage was classified as a Historic Monument in 1909.

From July 6 to September 11, 2011, the doors of Fort Mont Alban will be open for a guided tour and the exhibition dedicated to it.

Fort Mont Alban is located in one of the highest protected natural areas on the Nice coastline and has been the subject of a restoration project since 2010 to preserve and maintain this building, a witness to the military architecture of the County of Nice.

Fort Mont Alban is a military structure built between 1557 and 1560 by order of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy, by architect Domenico Ponsello, following the siege of 1543. In the context of fortifying the Nice coastline, Gianmaria Olgiati, general engineer of Charles V, suggested a defensive project including the Nice castle, the Citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer, and Fort Mont Alban.
