Adoption: A Mission of Child Protection. Adoption is the meeting of two unique stories, that of a child who does not have or no longer has a family and that of parents who wish to welcome this child for a lifetime. The essential goal is to give every child a family that is capable of meeting their needs.
Supporting parents is a priority in the Alpes-Maritimes, as the adoption approval is granted by the President of the General Council.
The Adoption Section of the General Council is part of the Child Welfare Service. Located in the Férion Building on the CADAM, the team, consisting of 14 agents, including 8 social workers (psychologists, educators, and family assistants), welcomes and supports the public in matters concerning adoption:
- The information for adoption applicants,
- The processing of approval,
- The support of approved families,
- The monitoring of adopted children,
- Support for women wishing to entrust their child to social services,
- The care of children,
- Assistance for individuals wishing to access their personal origins.
Thus, the 2009-2013 departmental plan for children and families strengthens the system of support and monitoring for adoptable children and adoptive parents.
