The UMP deputy mayor of Nice, who voted against the bill this Tuesday, would nevertheless be “delighted to celebrate the first gay marriage.”
The elected official adds that he cannot “accept that this bill mixes the issue of marriage with the issue of children’s rights,” and that “It’s precisely because this second issue isn’t addressed properly” that he voted against it.
However, the deputy mayor of Nice specifies that once the law is adopted, he would conduct same-sex marriages at the town hall, just as he already does for civil unions.
