On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 5:00 PM at the San Lorenzo Cathedral in Genoa, the funerals for the people who disappeared following the collision in which the container ship “Jolly Nero” struck the control tower of the Genoa port will take place, during the night from Wednesday to Thursday of last week.
On behalf of all the residents of the Côte d’Azur, the Deputy Mayor of Nice expresses his sincere condolences to those who have lost loved ones or have been affected by this tragedy. The people of Nice and the Côte d’Azur join in the grief of the victims’ families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
This empathy is strengthened by the fact that Nice and Genoa maintain strong ties of friendship. Last October 15, Christian Estrosi, in this context, received the new Mayor of Genoa, Marco Doria, discussing notably the relations between the two cities and Genoa’s port activities.
