The atmosphere was festive. As President Jean-Pierre Rivère reminded us, the Gambardella Cup was the only title missing from OGC Nice’s collection. Twice finalists in the competition, the young eaglets ended this drought during the 40th anniversary of their Training Center last Saturday at the Stade de France by defeating Saint-Etienne (2-1) with flair.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, officially congratulated the young Eaglets of OGC Nice – winners of the Gambardella Cup final – as well as the staff of the OGC Nice Training Center during a reception held in their honor.
“Thank you to this wonderful youth. Both your Mayor and your city are proud of this achievement […] We have a great future. Great teams are built with great infrastructure,” he stated while reminding everyone about the upcoming opening of Nice Stadium. “This victory should encourage us to go further.”

Jean-Pierre Rivère, president of OGCN: “In my first year at the helm of the club, I have the great pleasure of being the president who wins the Gambardella Cup. It’s a strong symbol for the future of the club. Not all these young players will become professionals, but they will remember this magnificent journey for the rest of their lives. Some of them will be future players of our professional team. It’s a wonderful prospect for our future as well as theirs.”
