A true tool for sharing around sports, the sports caravan is back to travel the roads of the department. For this 12th edition, 18 stages are planned between June and the end of August. A project initiated by the departmental Olympic committee (CDOS06) in partnership with the general council of the Alpes Maritimes.

caravane_sports.jpg Philippe Massanero, president of the departmental Olympic and sports committee, is enthusiastic as the launch approaches: “We want to share and showcase the values of sport in this department with this free caravan. I wish for this caravan to reach places far beyond its basic action. For example, by reaching out to the city areas.”

The aim of this event? To introduce different sports to young people who do not have access to sports practice. About fifteen activities will be offered, such as athletics, handball, trampoline, basketball, and table tennis. The organizers also hope to attract new members in the remote communities of the department. A section for adapted sports will also be offered: “We want to show people with disabilities the possibilities of integrating through disability sports. Disability is crucial for diversity and the Olympic and human values represented by the caravan and the committee,” explains Philippe Manassero.

This year, the departmental Olympic committee and the general council have decided to partner with OGCNICE to support Kevin ANIN. At each stage, everyone will be able to write a message of support for the player who was seriously injured in a car accident on a postcard that will be given to the Nice club. An important gesture of solidarity to unite the many young OGCNICE supporters in the department. Last year, more than 2000 children participated in workshops across the territory. For this summer, the CDOS06 hopes to double this number to instill the love of sport in the greatest number.
