These donations finance university projects around four themes:

• Academic excellence: strengthening the position of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis among the best universities globally, through student scholarships, international partnerships, and professorial chairs in teaching or research.

• Equal opportunities: promoting access for people facing economic, social, or disability challenges to qualifying programs.

• Business creation and professional integration: supporting graduation projects, accompanying entrepreneurial initiative holders. Facilitating exchanges between students and regional businesses and promoting their professional integration.

• Research and development: developing innovative research programs, particularly in cooperation with the university’s laboratories and businesses.

Some compelling examples of the UNICE Foundation’s activity:

The UNICE Foundation supports young business creators

The aim of this project is to enable students to create their own business by benefiting from a specific support scheme set up by the UNICE Foundation.
A real springboard to the business world, this project becomes a driving force for the realization of student projects.

Project LEGARE: Supporting and strengthening the social and family ties of people with Alzheimer’s disease

The stakes are significant, as there are about 860,000 people with Alzheimer’s in France, including 15,000 in the Alpes-Maritimes. Alzheimer’s disease is the 4th leading cause of mortality in Western countries.

The LEGARE project conducts filmed art therapy workshops published on a multimedia platform, accessible at patients’ homes as well as in two nursing homes in the Alpes-Maritimes – the GSF Foundation care center in Biot and the Victoria retirement residence in Mouans-Sartoux.

Thanks to support for patients, their families, and caregivers, the LEGARE project stimulates manual, emotional, and cognitive activity in patients, stabilizes their health condition, restores their confidence, strengthens their social and family bonds, and reduces their general anxiety state.

The results of the LEGARE project will be communicated to the medical world and will allow for the evaluation of this non-drug approach to Alzheimer’s disease.

The UNICE Foundation also obtained support from the Alzheimer’s Association “A Cause for All,” allowing the LEGARE project to include culinary and dietary workshops.

Scholarships awarded in the name of equal opportunities

Equal opportunities is one of the major themes of projects developed by the UNICE Foundation: it is about strengthening access for those facing economic, social, or disability challenges to qualifying training programs.

In this context, the foundation has financed up to 15,000 euros in merit scholarships for students who have achieved positive academic results, recognizing their exceptional commitment to succeeding in their university year with flying colors despite difficult personal circumstances.
