If you love the Pin Up style of the 50s and 60s revamped to fit modern tastes, come to discover on July 8th in St Jean Cap Ferrat a fashion show bringing together the creations of four talented designers. Spotlight on Anthéa Malbéqui, 22, creator of the brand PollyPetitPois and a fashion enthusiast.
Anthea Malbéqui, 22, a young and dynamic designer from Nice with a sharp look, defines her own style as a subtle blend between “woman-child” and “femme fatale.” Passionate about fashion for a long time—she used to create printed t-shirts when she was younger—she was an assistant press officer at BPCM in Paris in 2011, and this experience in the events and fashion world (notably during fashion week) gave her the spark she needed to venture into fashion design.
For her first collection of accessories based on a very “girly” and ultra-glamorous, feminine, and sexy style, the brand Pollypetitpois will present its “retro SS12” collection on July 8th in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat: a line of ready-to-wear and accessories inspired by her travels and the beauty codes of yesteryears. Ten pieces will be exhibited to the public: five from her accessory collection (hair headbands and playful leg warmers) and five from her ready-to-wear line, exclusively featuring dresses with retro and vintage prints.
A fashion show by the “Art à Porter” association
Three other designers will also be present to showcase their work for this fifth edition of the “Art à Porter” association’s fashion show. Priscilla Petit will present her collection “Ligne XX,” drawn from a specific theme: “a new reading of the body allows for rethinking how to construct a garment.” Objective: tear, destroy… to recreate everything again and transform so-called “basic” pieces—leggings, t-shirts, panties—into Haute Couture pieces that highlight the body and its unique features!
Sara Sew will exhibit her collection “Fantastique,” a contemporary interpretation of iconic outfits from “fantasy” movies with a quirky, “new-wave” and “punk-chic” style, fresh and stylish at the same time. Her inspiration also comes from the street and those people who live their “own movie” daily: fashion as a social phenomenon, where every life intersects like in a feature film.
Line Ary will unveil her “summer 60’,” a line of clothing with well-thought-out cuts to highlight women’s femininity while borrowing masculine codes to assert each woman’s character for a glamorous and androgynous collection, mixing two seemingly opposed styles… In a joyful “mix” of colors and refined materials, Line Ary gives her creations a lot of sensuality and character at the same time.
The “Art à Porter” association is led by designer Lara Quarto, whose brand “Il Quarto Stile” will present a collection for little girls this year, “Lullaby.” The theme for this year’s fashion show is “Mission Creation,” with a free theme, allowing each designer to showcase their universe. It will host as guest of honor the great couturier Robert Nowosad, a Polish-born fashion designer based in Castillon for over a decade, where he develops his workshop and builds an international clientele. He offers his creations through silk, linen, and cotton, his favorite materials. He will open the fashion show along with the ready-to-wear house “Femini-sens”—not a shop since the place is designed like a girls’ dressing room flirting with the past, choosing brands inspired by Hollywood glamour, the sixties, and the “Bardot” reign—, as an honorary member, who will present its “BardotManiac” show.
This quality event gathers nearly 300 people each year in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, along with about thirty volunteers (dressers, hairdressers, makeup artists, models…) without whom the event wouldn’t come to life. A fashion show that represents the culmination of a creative, artistic, and human experience where different worlds meet.
