This network, to which the Metropolis belongs and in which it plays an active role, represents a powerful lobby with European institutions. This event will take place over three days, and Christian Estrosi will speak this Thursday at 11 a.m.
Issues Raised by the Forum
This forum consists of seven working groups. Its main political objectives are:
the implementation of the 6th Environmental Action Programme of the European Union, including the development of strategies on urban environment, air quality, waste prevention and recycling,
the preparation of the 7th Environmental Action Programme 2007-2013,
the contribution of its members to the challenges of global climate change, both in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and anticipating potential consequences (such as increased flood risks) and developing effective adaptation measures,
the contribution by cities to the successful implementation of the European Union Strategy for Sustainable Development, which was initially launched in Gothenburg in June 2001 through cooperative projects and common position proposals to the European Commission, Parliament, and Council.
