For three years, Christophe Pinna, as part of a mission to promote sports for everyone, has been encouraging the residents of Nice to push their limits by participating in exceptional sporting events: taking part in the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes Marathon, the Nice Côte d’Azur Tennis Open, etc.
For the 2013 edition of the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes Marathon, which took place on November 10, 40 participants from Nice, involved in the “J’me bouge” initiative, lined up at the starting line. Their goal was to complete the marathon in under 4 hours and 15 minutes.
After this genuine sporting and human adventure, Christophe Pinna wanted to take things further by taking three of these participants from Nice to the Moroccan desert to join him in the Marathon des Sables 2014 (from April 4 to 14). Thus, three of the participants from the last “J’me bouge” initiative will take on this new challenge: Loïc Battesti, Stéphane Cauquil, and Lionel Faccenda.
The Marathon des Sables is certainly one of the toughest races in the world!
It is a 250 km race, in six stages, with food self-sufficiency, that includes a long 81 km stage in the southern Moroccan desert of dunes, rocks, and endless stretches with no sign of life.
1,200 participants from various nationalities will take part in this race in 2014. Four of them will be from Nice!
