The port lit up on Saturday night. From 7 PM, nautical activities, street performances, concerts, and gastronomy paid homage to the port of Nice and its history.

Many locals ventured onto the port’s quays this Saturday evening. From the “village of chefs,” the aroma of quality dishes wafted through the air: red fruit tiramisu, foie gras crรจme brรปlรฉe, lobster cannelloniโฆ With a few more steps, one could discover the stalls of regional specialties, as well as various and original games offered to children, whose laughter spread through the air.
Meanwhile, on the other side, on the Infernet quay, both young and old tried their hands at riding a Segway (a gyro-scooter) for free, some hesitant, others as if they had been doing it all their lives. โItโs not simple,โ exclaimed one of the participants. Across the way, an artist performed graceful acrobatics on long ribbons. Stilt-walking pirates captivated and entertained the crowd. Passersby watched a large screen showing a documentary on the port’s history. Beside them, posters recounted the roles of significant figures in the history of the city and port.
Aquatic Animations
Crowds of people queued to board a large boat. They crossed the port and reached the opposite quay. Another line allowed for a ride on boats decorated with flowers. Meanwhile, an upbeat music emerged from the speakers. Spotlights painted large streaks on the water. It was a sign that the jet-ski demonstration was about to begin. The drivers of these watercraft performed astonishing tricks, drawing applause from the audience. โItโs impressive!โ exclaimed a young woman.
Upbeat Music
The various stalls offering snacks and drinks were bustling with people. Tables and chairs set up near the stages were crowded. Musicians played songs by Otis Redding and the Jackson Five. At the other end of the port, music had more reggae influences, and a bit further on, it had a decidedly rock style. It was 10:30 PM, and the first fireworks lit up the sky. Silence fell over the crowd as everyone sought the best spot to enjoy the show. Colors followed applause. It was getting a bit late, and many decided it was time to head home, while others moved closer to the stages to dance. This is also what the Nice Port Festival is aboutโฆ
