Stade Bob Rémond: the new synthetic turf inaugurated

Latest News

The City of Nice continues its commitment to renovating football fields. After the inauguration of the Forum Nice-Nord, focus now shifts to the synthetic turf at the Bob Rémond stadium.

Dominique Baratelli, Daniel Sanchez, Roger Ricort, Eric Roy, Alexy Bosetti… These are generations of footballers who have been brought to professional football by Cavigal. A flagship club in the region, which can now rely on a stadium equipped with brand-new, state-of-the-art synthetic turf.

There was a crowd this Wednesday afternoon at the Bob Rémond stadium for the inauguration of this new turf. Diego Noto and Jean-Pierre Reubeu, respectively President of Cavigal Omnisports and President of Cavigal Football, were of course present. As was the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who attended the event with his deputy for sports, Gilles Veissière.

And it was under the watchful eye of Super Victor, the mascot of Euro 2016, that the new President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte-D’Azur Region cut the ribbon inaugurating this new synthetic turf, approved by both FFF and FIFA.

In addition to the new turf, there is renewed subgrade and peripheral drainage, installation of a new draining membrane, creation of an integrated irrigation system with eight suitable sprinklers, application of new lines approved for 11-a-side and 7-a-side football, as well as the replacement of all equipment for goals and new ball-stop nets.
Estimated at €477,000, these works were financed by the City of Nice, thanks in particular to a UEFA grant of €299,000.

Five other operations planned

The renovation of Bob Rémond stadium, just as the Forum Nice-Nord in September last year, is part of the ambitious policy pursued by the City of Nice: to promote sports in neighborhoods. The UEFA grant, which concerns all host cities of Euro 2016, is therefore timely, and Christian Estrosi does not intend to stop there: “UEFA provided us with a grant of 2 million euros to equip a number of sports facilities with such surfaces, to which I added 20% of the City’s contribution, that is, 600,000 euros. And with these 2,600,000 euros, we are equipping seven fields.”

The renovations of the Forum Nice-Nord and the Bob Rémond stadium are the first two steps. Five other operations will be carried out this year, including the delivery of a new field at the Plaine complex, the creation of 2 synthetic fields at the Hairabédian stadium, the conversion to synthetic of the micro sites Henri-Sappia and Bornala, as well as the creation of a synthetic mini-stadium at Stade des Tripodes.

Super Victor has not finished roaming the region’s stadiums.
