This Thursday, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts presented its 2013 convention report. Mr. Eric Ciotti, president of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, and Jean-Pierre Galvez, president of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of the Alpes-Maritimes, were present.
Alongside the CMA, the General Council is committed. This chamber is the department’s “first enterprise.” During this report, three key points were highlighted with speakers each time.
The first was business succession and takeover. It is important that when an entrepreneur wishes to leave their business, it does not close. This was demonstrated by Jean-François Pellegrin and Jean-Louis Laugier. Both plumbers, the latter took over the former’s business in May 2013 after 25 years of service for Mr. Pellegrin. As Jean-Pierre Galvez declared, it is “a bit of wealth that is lost when a business closes.” And in 2013, 57 businesses were taken over, saving 71 employee jobs and accounting for 57 business leaders and collaborators, thus preserving 128 jobs.
A second point was developed via employment. Here, it was two butchers, Abdelhamid Razzouk and Didier Bekaert, who shared their experience. Didier Bekaert, holder of a vocational diploma, found a job with Mr. Razzouk after experiencing “3-4 years of unemployment.” Despite the difficult economic context, the objectives were achieved and even surpassed.
Finally, the development of apprenticeships was discussed. Gabriel Torralba, 16 years old and in the first year of a vocational diploma in sales, came to testify with Mr. and Mrs. Adenot, bakers in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Apprenticeship is an important phenomenon for both young people and businesses, always looking for new hands. 207 new apprenticeship contracts were signed with artisanal businesses that previously did not have access to them. And 209 of the 261 apprentices at the end of their contracts who were individually followed now have a job or an activity.
Eric Ciotti wanted to affirm his support and commitment and all the confidence that the CMA could demonstrate.
