Children’s Municipal Council: The citizens of tomorrow are going to take their seats.

Latest News

Being the citizens of tomorrow: that’s what young students (between 10 and 12 years old) must learn to become. It is with this spirit and ambition that the municipality of Nice, like many others, has established a โ€œchildrenโ€™s municipal councilโ€ which, beyond mere pompous words, is a significant place of learning.

When reading the surnames, we have proof once again (if proof were needed) that a community is the result of inclusion and not the opposite. Sixty-eight young people, from schools that applied (too few from the more than 160 schools in Nice!), have been chosen by their peers to serve for the next two years.

A wonderful experience for them and a useful listening tool for adult elected officials to better understand the sensibilities of this new generation.

This Saturday, proud of their status, these little ones received the tricolor sash and the citizenship booklet from their โ€œcolleague,โ€ the Mayor of Nice, accompanied by his Deputy for Education, Lauriano Azinheirinha, and the Academy Inspector, Michel-Jean Floch.

They will meet twice a year in plenary session and four times a year in committees to propose and develop projects.

Finally, under the sometimes emotional gaze of their parents and relatives, they all posed together for the traditional photo.

In any case, it will remain a beautiful childhood memoryโ€ฆ
