Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 8:30 AM to 2 PM – Botanical Garden – 78, Corniche Fleurie
The Botanical Garden of the City of Nice is preparing to host its traditional “Plant Exchange”: a great gathering for enthusiasts and amateurs alike. In a friendly atmosphere, the plant exchange provides an opportunity to meet botanical garden professionals and learn about existing methods to best care for plants. It also allows for the exchange of uncommon plants or to obtain gardening advice.
Advice from experienced professionals
Bring your potted flowers, your cuttings to root, and your seeds… You will leave with new plants!!! And if you have nothing to exchange, you can always walk through the stands, ask questions, and participate in tours of this biodiversity paradise: by taking the small paths, gardeners will introduce you to the flora of Australia, South Africa, Mexico, Greece, Cyprus, and even the Canary Islands. You will also be able to admire the national collections of sages and agaves.
The Botanical Garden of the City of Nice is… 3,000 plant species, primarily Mediterranean, presented over 3.5 hectares. The Mediterranean flora comprises 15,000 species, and about 30,000 have been recorded in countries with the same climate, namely South Africa, southern Australia, central Chile, California, and the western United States.
The uniqueness of the garden lies in the reconstruction of typical landscapes of the world’s Mediterranean climates. Thus, South Africa, southern Australia, Mexico, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, and most recently the Near East and the Canary Islands, are all areas to explore for a complete change of scenery!
Exchanges between enthusiasts: 8:30 AM – 1 PM
