Leveraging its summer success, the exhibition “A Decade of Acquisitions” at the Matisse Museum has been extended until February 12, 2012.
You will have the opportunity to discover or rediscover the donations, endowments, manual gifts, and purchases that have enriched the museum’s collection since 2000. These were gathered in tribute to the donation of Henri Matisse’s ceramic “La Piscine,” offered to the city of Nice in 2011 by Mr. and Mrs. Claude Duthuit for the benefit of the Matisse Museum.
As part of this exhibition, a collection of deposits and recent acquisitions is presented, which come from the painter’s family, including moucharabiehs, graphic works, drawings, fabrics and costumes, lithographs and studio engravings, and furniture.
Other pieces are from different donors, such as the lithograph “Study for the Virgin ‘Face,’” posters like “Maternity” (1951) and “Creole Dancer” (1965), photographs by Brassaรฏ, a photograph of a portrait of Matisse by Ina Bandy, magazines, and documentation.
