From Monday, November 14 to Friday, November 18, 2011
In order to combat illiteracy, the City of Nice is renewing the “Reading for All” initiative, which allows schoolchildren to meet writers who share their journey towards writing. “Reading for All” has been in existence since September 2008.
Each month, a writer is hosted for a week in schools, colleges, high schools, associations, hospitals of the City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Urban Community, and sometimes in a detention center.
In November, writer Aurélie de Gubernatis will have the wonderful task of conveying her love for letters and books.
Aurélie Hustin de Gubernatis did not immediately gravitate towards literature. Her priority was to have a “real job.” She studied law and became a notary in a village in Provence. But the itch to write compelled her to start her first novel, “The Guardian of the Crystal Skull,” which was well-received by the public.
After much consideration, she left her position as a notary in July 2010, taking advantage of this new freedom to write her second novel “2012 – The Guardians of Time,” published in 2011 by Plon. Both of her novels draw readers into Mayan legends and are sure to capture the imagination of the young people she will meet.
