When we talk about work, precariousness is definitely the norm. The ILO (International Labour Organization) provides figures on what has become a standard for workers around the world.

Thus, three out of four workers are in precarious situations: only 25% of them benefit from the relative protection of a permanent contract. The remaining 75% have to make do with part-time contracts, fixed-term contracts, or even simply undeclared work.

The report “World Employment and Social Outlook” for the year 2015 also explains that the vast majority of workers (60%) simply do not have a work contract. Therefore, undeclared or informal work is predominant in the world…

The production of goods or services contributing to globalization is an activity that employs 20% of workers. One in five thus participates in the manufacturing of a good whose completion involves several countries: twenty years ago, 296 million people worked in the context of the globalization of trade, and today, it is 453 million. The ILO states that while these employees are more productive, paradoxically, they are also paid at the same level as others.

The number of unemployed people worldwide exceeds 200 million (201 million to be precise). The global crisis and the increase in the general population have resulted in 30 million more unemployed people than before 2008. Nonetheless, the unemployment rate is declining: it is 5.7% for men, 6.3% for women.
