The Cinematographic and Audiovisual Support Fund, created in 2006 by the Department in connection with the National Center for Cinema and Moving Image, is an essential mechanism for maintaining the film industry on the Cรดte d’Azur. Its goal is to promote filming in the Alpes-Maritimes.
This year, its Reading Committee, which gives opinions on film projects eligible to receive aid from the Department, has been renewed and is honored to include among its new members the actress Michรจle Laroque, who will assume the Presidency.
Among the films supported in previous years, some major successes can be mentioned, such as โMinuscule,โ which won the 2015 Cรฉsar for Best Animated Feature Film, โThe Finishersโ by Nils Tavernier, and โRust and Boneโ by Jacques Audiard.
More broadly, as part of a particularly dynamic and diversified policy, the Department has undertaken various actions to share cinema with a wide audience, for instance, by developing traveling cinema circuits in the highlands and midlands, and by offering middle school students advantageous financial conditions to attend screenings in a school setting.
