Regional elections in PACA: the PRG, a loyal but not free ally of the PS

Latest News

Through a few press leaks, it seems that the Socialist Party (PS) is organizing in the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur (PACA) region for the upcoming regional elections. One cannot blame them given the immense task ahead.

However, serious reservations can be opposed to their method. Once again, the debate has been initiated internally through discussions between factions. Quite the opposite of what should be done.

For an election where the unification of the left is a matter of survival for it, the dialogue must be with partners and civil society. Not among themselves.

It is from this dialogue that a real regional project and a new political offering can be built, capable of mobilizing the men and women of the PACA region who do not want the election to turn into a duel between the UMP and the National Front (FN).

In the Alpes-Maritimes, where more than anywhere else, changes must be made if the left is to achieve an honorable result in December, the position of PRG 06 is clear.

In 2010, during the last regional elections, the Radical Party of the Left (PRG) had a departmental head of the list in PACA. The situation requires at least the continuation of this open arrangement. However, as the 2010 head of the list is not running again, the Federation 06 of PRG believes it has the political legitimacy, bolstered by a certain electoral legitimacy, and a capacity for unifying that authorizes it to propose to its partners to take responsibility for leading a list in December that is widely open to different sensitivities of the left and civil society. Thus, it makes this proposal.

Patrick MOTTARD, President of PRG 06
