The young UDI of Alpes-Maritimes at the heart of Europe

The young UDI members of Alpes-Maritimes gathered for an “After Work” event themed: Europe in Questions.

Also present were: Nicolas Pelissier, municipal councilor of Cannes and candidate for the European elections, Jean-Michel Noguerolles, international lawyer and project leader of the UDI, and Serge Amar, departmental delegate of UDI 06 and deputy mayor of Antibes.

udi_europe.jpg The participants outlined the party’s program as well as their personal views on the crucial issue of Europe, just five days before the European elections.

On this occasion, Nicolas Pelissier declared: “Europe is part of our DNA”.

This is strongly reflected in the centrist program for the European elections, several aspects of which were developed and debated:

More cooperation with major emigration countries to address the issue of illegal immigration more effectively and humanely.

Election of the President of the European Commission by direct universal suffrage instead of the obscure process currently in place.

The creation of a European Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense so that Europe can speak and act with a single voice internationally.

Simplification and unification of labor laws at the European level.

However, for the young UDI, being convinced Europeans does not necessarily mean falling into a sort of “Eurobliss”.

“We are well aware that the European Union in its current form is not functioning well and is too distant from the peoples it is supposed to defend. Our solution is therefore not to exit Europe as proposed by some demagogic parties but rather to move further in the construction of this union that has brought us the longest period of peace the continent has ever known,” they say in unison.

Likewise, the UDI reaffirms its firm opposition to the Euro-American free trade treaty currently under negotiation, which is being debated under obscure conditions far from the sovereign people.

The young UDI therefore calls on the French to mobilize ahead of the election on May 25 and to choose the only clearly pro-European lists: those of the UDI-MoDem Alliance.
