The nineteenth edition of the Nice Baie des Anges prize crowned Sylvain TESSON for his novel “Sโ€™abandonner ร  vivre,” published by Gallimard. The jury selected this work from among eight competing novels. The winner succeeds Valรฉrie Tong Cuong (Lโ€™atelier des miracles, J-C. Lattรจs).

Sylvain Tesson has also published with Gallimard “Une vie ร  coucher dehors” (Prix Goncourt de la nouvelle, 2009) and “Dans les forรชts de Sibรฉrie” (Prix Mรฉdicis essay, 2011).

Selected by writers and journalists from Nice-Matin, a partner of the Azurean literary prize, a popular jury of ten readers, lovers of books and words, participated in the deliberations.

The Nice Baie des Anges prize will be awarded to Sylvain TESSON by Christian ESTROSI, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis, on Friday, June 13, at the opening of the Nice Book Festival, which will be held under the presidency of Mr. Edgard MORIN.

Since its creation in 1996 at the initiative of the City of Nice, this literary prize has awarded novelists such as Patrick Renaudot, Raoul Mille, Franz-Olivier Giesbert, Gรฉrard de Cortanze, Claude Imbert, Jean-Noรซl Pancrazi, Paula Jacques, Vรฉnus Khoury-Ghata, Richard Millet, Eric Fottorino, Jean-Paul Enthoven, Didier Van Cauwelaert, Saphia Azzeddine / Renรฉ Frรฉgni, Daniel Cordier, Laurent Seksik, Aurรฉlie Hustin de Gubernatis, Romain Slocombe, and Valรฉrie Tong Cuong.
